Welcome to poetryvlog.com
A weekly video reading of poetry by the poet.
Dear Friends,
On Sunday, April 22nd, 1:00 p.m. at the Mystic Arts Center, Poets for Darfur, a reading to benefit the victims of the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan, Africa, will be held to commemorate National Poetry Month and usher in the Global Days of Awareness for Darfur (April 23-29, 2007). So often we view such atrocities from our television sets (when there is actual news of them) and wonder what we can do to help. Singly, we sometimes feel helpless in the face of such helplessness, but when we band together, we can make a mighty impact.
Please join me and an impressive list of poets who care, including former Connecticut Poet Laureate, Marilyn Nelson, former Long Island Poet Laureate, George, Wallace, John Landry, Poet Laureate of New Bedford, MA, and a host of poets from Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island as we raise our voices to raise awareness and money for the victims of this genocide.
People who cannot attend but would like to make a donation, can make their check payable to "Save Darfur" and send it to Rhonda Ward at 73 Washington Street, Unit C5, New London, CT 06320.
The price of admission is $15.00 and all proceeds will be donated to Save Darfur, an organization that has been leading the charge in the fight to protect the victims and end the genocide in Darfur.
Please mark you calendar for Sunday, April 22nd, 1:00 p.m., and pass this announcement to others who you feel would be interested.
I look forward to sharing with you the experience of making a difference!
Peace and Love,
Rhonda Ward
